IT’S GREEN, IT’S LOCAL, IT’S ORGANIC—
IT’S FIELD OF GREENS

The Field of Green festival returns to Whippoorwill Hollow Organic Farm on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 11am – 6pm. This popular farm festival brings together locally grown food, live music, and green living education, all in a family-friendly, fun environment.

Ticket price is $15 for adults, and kids 12 and under enter for free. "We wanted to keep the ticket price accessible for people, particularly families,"? says farmer Andy Byrd, who
hosts the event along with his wife Hilda. "Our goal is to teach how we can all live gently on the Earth, and show how delicious and fun that can be.?" The entrance ticket includes small-plate tastings that showcase locally grown food, prepared by fifteen of the most talented chefs in Georgia. Restaurants already on board include Food 101 and the recently opened Leon’s Full Service of Decatur.

New this year is the Three Not-So-Little Pigs Cookoff where three chefs prepare three pigs raised by three different farmers. This three-by-three BBQ cookoff, also included in the admission price, will be served up beginning at 3pm.

This year's event where over 50 vendors and exhibitors and 1,000 attendees are expected is once again sponsored by Slow Food Atlanta, a nonprofit building a
good, clean, and fair food system.

Whippoorwill Hollow Organic Farm (www.whippoorwillhollowfarm.com) is a 74 acre certified organic family farm run by Andy and Hilda Byrd. The farm is located 35 miles east of Atlanta, in Walnut Grove.

Cost: Entry is only $15, Children under 12 are free.

Event proceeds will benefit Georgia’s local organic farming community and Slow Food Atlanta (www.slowfoodatlanta.org).
